Michelle Yentzen

Michelle Yentzen grew up and attended Beaumont schools, graduating from South Park High School. She has earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University. She also earned a Juris Doctor degree from South Texas College of Law. She has practiced law in this area since 1990 and has been employed as federal prosecutor with the United States Attorney's Office in Beaumont for the past 12 years. Ms. Yentzen is married and has three children, two of who have already gone through H-J ISD schools. Currently, she has a fourth grader attending Sour Lake Elementary. She and her family moved to the Pinewood subdivision in 1994 and have resided there since that time. She is very excited about the opportunity to serve the residents of Hardin-Jefferson Independent School District in keeping and improving the excellent educational opportunities provided for our children at H-J.

Mark Aldrich

Mr. Aldrich has lived in Nome for most of his life and graduated from Hardin-Jefferson. Following graduation, he attended Sam Houston State University receiving a Bachelor of Science degree. He owns Aldrich Insurance Agency in Sour Lake. His agency provides both personal and commercial insurance to clients throughout the local community. He also owns Whittington Realty. Both businesses are located in Sour Lake. Mark and his wife, Karen have three children: Lindsey, Winston and Taylor. Mr. Aldrich was elected to the board of trustees in 2003. He looks forward to providing leadership for the district that is responsive to students, parents, and taxpayers.

Mike Attaway

Mr. Attaway grew up in Sour Lake and graduated from Hardin-Jefferson. After graduation, he attended Tyler Junior College and the University of Houston graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Professionally, he is a business manager providing assistance to companies with new product launches, business start-ups, mergers or turnarounds. He works primarily in the US and Latin American markets providing service to the energy and environmental sectors. His early career was spent in the oil service industry. Mr. Attaway's family moved back into the district approximately 7 years ago so their daughter could attend H-J. His daughter also graduated from H-J. Serving on the board for approximately 5 years, he states, "Hardin-Jefferson is a very special district with a supportative community, great administrators, staff and students. I am very proud to have the opportunity to serve the H-J community as a board trustee."

W.T. LaFleur

Mr. LaFleur has been employed with a major oil company for 35 years, and has worked in management for 22 years. Mr. LaFleur is married to Lou and they presently don't have any children attending school in the district, however, his youngest child graduated from H-J in 1992. Mr. LaFleur has lived in the H-J district for 18 years at 414 Patna Drive off the Old Sour Lake Road in Jefferson County.

Gerald West
Secretary of Board

Gerald West is in his fifteenth year on the board. He has been nominated and approved by the Board to serve as the Secretary for this concurrent period of elected time. At the age of 59, he is a lifelong resident of the school district, and maintains a very high expectation of the district's leadership, financial control and good school policy. To support the district's concerns, Gerald has completed in excess of 200 credited hours with the Texas Association of School Boards in board member educational training. Gerald resides in China with his wife, Pam. They have one daughter, Jessica. As a retired employee of Motiva Enterprises in Port Arthur, he was a supervisor with the responsibility for material procurement and distribution withing the refinery. Mr. West received a BBA in Business from Lamar University in 1969, and was recognized as the "Ten Thousandth Graduate" for the university. Later, he served two years in the United States Marine Corps, and became a Vietnam Veteran in 1971. Gerald will always share a very important point. Hardin-Jefferson ISD has always had good people serving on the Board of Trustees.
